In this fun, family-focused episode of The Wisdom, Lifestyle, Money Show, host Scott Dillingham interviews his children, Isaiah (age 6) and Aubrey (age 9), sharing laughs about hobbies, summer adventures, and future dreams. Isaiah obsesses over Pokémon cards (recently scoring a rare Charizard), reveals his bike-riding trick (remove pedals/training wheels for balance), and plans to transform LendCity into a Pokémon store with card challenges. He dislikes online school for missing friends and recounts Niagara Falls highlights like arcades and buffets. Aubrey loves karate (learning self-defense), Harry Potter (redecorating her room with 9¾ wallpaper/brick theme), and aspires to acting—finding school "boring" overall but excited for new teachers. She shares Niagara tales (Dracula haunt, dizzy tunnel) and cottage/beach fun.
Scott ties in life lessons like negotiation (Isaiah's daily card pleas) and perseverance (Aubrey mastering Harry Potter game). Amid 2025's back-to-school shifts (post-COVID hybrid trends per Ontario reports, emphasizing social reconnection), this light-hearted chat highlights kids' perspectives on growth, family support, and simple joys—reminding listeners to embrace passions early. Perfect for parents/investors balancing work/family in 2025's evolving education landscape (e.g., digital fatigue noted in CMHC wellness studies), it inspires teaching entrepreneurship young while enjoying downtime.

Introduction
Welcome to the Wisdom Lifestyle Money Show. I'm your host, Scott Dillingham. The show is designed to help Canadians invest better in Canada and the United States. We are the North America-based mortgage financing lender and provide education to both countries.
Discover how you can become a better investor and access the financing you need. Welcome to today's episode of the show. I'm super excited because today I have a special guest that I introduce you to.
His name is Isaiah. He's my son. He's also the future owner of Land City.
So welcome to the show, Isaac. How's it going today?
The Core Idea
Good. So, hey for Isaac.
It was really interesting. He came into work today to help me out. And one of my staff members brought him some gifts. Do you want to talk about that?
What did she bring you? What one rare that you got today?
That's awesome. Yeah, so Charizard Pokemon card.
Deep Dive
He loves Pokemon. Isaiah, I wanted to talk today about what you do at Land City and with your life and all that good stuff. What do you, when you look at Land City today, is it anything that you would change when you become the owner? We really want to be stairs going down to the downstairs room because I'm just a kid.
But still, he's got the business mentality. One thing that Isaiah does is he negotiates and bargains almost every day. Actually, I'll let you tell everybody. What is it every day that you're trying to get me to buy for you?
That's right. And every day he has a creative way to try to convince me to buy him these Pokemon cards. So I already know he's going to be a great negotiator when he's older.
Okay. So, Isaiah, why don't you tell everybody one of your favorite things to do is?
Practical Steps
Get Pokemon cards. Do you like anything else besides Pokemon cards?
Nope. Sure. He likes lots of things, but I have Pokemon cards.
It's bad right now. Could you tell us, Isaiah, what some of the hobbies you like to do are? Besides Pokemon cards, you can't do Pokemon cards. What do you do with your friends?
Talk about Pokemon cards. There's nothing else you do. You just live life about Pokemon cards.
Key Takeaways
Yes. Cool. So the other thing that Isaiah does really nice is he's very thoughtful. So whenever he notices that someone is sad or upset, he does something really nice for them.
Do you want to tell everybody about one of the cards you made for your mom when she was sick or sad? And when I draw pictures.
He draws pictures. And what do you usually draw pictures of?
I think you feel bad. That's very nice. So if you had to pick, change it to, but if you had to pick favorite song, what would you say your favorite song would be?
Resources
I'm blue. So if he likes I'm blue, what would you say second favorite song is?
Box set. So let's talk about school for a bit.
So right now we have COVID, right? Of online school or in-person school. What do you think of online school?
I think it's terrible. Terrible?
Introduction
Terrible? Why is it terrible?
But what don't you like? Can you elaborate a little bit?
You can't play with friends. You can't play with friends. You can't even see your friends except for on the screen. And then you also don't have that same connection with your teacher because it's harder with online school.
But that's one of the first things you're going to do or you look forward to doing when you get back to school in September. Begging you for coaching. Besides begging me, I'm talking about school now. What are you excited about school?
The Core Idea
Is there something to do? See my friend.
So just bless you, friend. Cool. Can you tell us about how your summer went?
What you did on vacation? Playing with my friends and begging my dad to get me pooped.
Yes. Isaac can tell, he makes me every day.
Deep Dive
He's not joking about that. But where did you go for vacation?
What did you do? I went home and they had a birthday.
So I went to a cottage. A cottage, yeah. What was your favorite thing to do in Niagara Falls?
Eat at the buffet. That was your favorite thing was eating at the buffet?
Practical Steps
No. What was your favorite?
Play arcade. It happened.
The arcade, yes. And what did you win?
Squirtle. A big one, right?
Key Takeaways
Yeah. It was huge. They had to get the manager to get a massive hook to take it down because it was way at the top and so big.
Yeah. So that was fun. Tell us, with your future employment and ownership of Lens City, what do you want to do? Do you want to still keep mortgages or would you have something else?
A Pokemon store. And what would you have?
Would you have cards there? Would you play a game there?
Resources
What would you do? Challenge for two and beat me. And if I win, I get one of their Pokemon cards. Should I say when I give them one of my Pokemon cards?
What if it picked your really rare Charizard that you got today? What would you say about that?
Pretty nope. You're not getting that.
They never come back. We can tell them to never come back. If they're the customer, you don't want them to never come back.
Introduction
So you can't say not get business. What about sports? Do you like any sports or activities like that?
Not really. But you like to race your friends.
Are you really fast? How fast?
I can go speed. If there was a car on the road before there was Isaiah on the road, who would win?
The Core Idea
Sure. Whatever, Steve.
Food, winning, or race. You are a car.
Wow. And you are so fun. Now, and again, besides Pokemon, is there any other hobbies that you like to do?
Nope. We can't say that one. Do you like to ride your bike? Isn't that something that you learned how to do is ride it without training wheels?
Deep Dive
Yeah. Why don't you tell everybody the secret that we discovered on how to ride your bike with no training wheels? So you take off the pedals, and then you only move with your feet, and then you will get the belly.
That's right. So we learned that trick.
It was on YouTube. What you do is you, like Isaiah said, you take off the pedals, and then it forces you to balance yourself, right? So you sit on your bike seat, push with your feet, and you balance yourself.
Not really good at that. Actually, you put the pedals back on with the training wheels off.
Practical Steps
Bastard it. So that is one great for all the parents out there that are trying to get their kids to ride the bike.
Take off the training wheels. Take off the pedals. Let them sit on it and push it.
And he learned really quickly. Is there any final words that you would take to everybody before we leave for the break and we have your sister come back on?
No message for the world. All right. We'll be right back with his sister.
Key Takeaways
All right. Welcome back to the show. With me now, I have little Aubrey. And she was very excited to hop on this show.
She's kept coming into my office today. I think, Dad, let's get this recording going.
So here we are. So, Aubrey, welcome.
How are you today? I'm good.
Resources
I'm awesome. Aubrey's nine. And she loves coming into my work. So what do you like to do when you come into work?
I like hanging out with your staff, Auntie Chrissy and Kayla. Nice. And what do you guys do when you hang out? We mock each other and we have fun.
Another thing is that they send each other funny stuff and sometimes I get to pick what they do. Okay. And also, I remember once we went to the store and we got these mini cans, mini bottles of pop.
Okay. And what'd you do with the mini bottles of pop? I drunk it on the last sip. They made me laugh and I spit everywhere.
Introduction
Man, that's crazy. So that's awesome.
So yeah, so she comes in. She quote unquote helps out, but it really ends up in Frank's. And the one time I came in and there was like toys behind the coffee maker and all kinds of stuff.
Okay. What are you stashing?
We were hiding Kayla's stuff. Okay.
The Core Idea
Okay, cool. So Aubrey, what is it that you wanted to be when you grew up? Did you ever have any ideas? Honestly, I honestly really want to be an actor.
An actor? You'd be an actress because you're female.
So what type of movies would you be in? I don't know. Do you like action, adventure, the love stories?
What kinds? I like Harry Potter movies.
Deep Dive
Okay. I don't know. So speaking of Harry Potter, so that's something she loves.
And we painted a room. We did some walls are like this teal color. Some walls are purple and all this white furniture.
And it looked really nice. And now she's redoing her whole room for her birthday. So why don't you tell everybody what you're doing in your bedroom?
So I'm putting wallpaper on two walls. So it's like the nine and three quarters. And what does the wallpaper look like? It looks like a reddish brownish brick color.
Practical Steps
Okay. And the nine and three quarters, what she's speaking about there is when you watch the Harry Potter shows, how they run through the brick walls and the train station.
Yeah. That's what she's talking about. She has a sign that says nine and three quarters.
But continue. And I forgot like what it's called. Like it's like this brownish reddish color. What is it called again, dad?
I don't remember the color. I know. But we got some paint samples and I'm not doing like the really dark ones. I think I might do rumors.
Key Takeaways
Okay. I like that one.
Yep. So she's going to put in the brick wallpaper up in her room.
So it looks like the train station. She's painting the walls like a red.
So rumors is like a type of red. And then she has all new Harry Potter decorations and everything she's putting up.
Resources
Yeah. So it's going to be a completely change room, but she's excited about it for sure. Well, let's talk a little bit about school. So I asked your brother what he thought of online school.
What do you think of online school? It sucks.
It sucks. What do you not like about it?
It's boring. Yeah. Is it more boring online than in person?
Introduction
I don't know. It's boring in general.
In general. Okay. So if you had to choose, choose online school or in person.
Or. Or.
Okay. So what. School's right around the corner from recording this. What would you say is the thing that you're looking forward to the most about going back to school?
The Core Idea
You don't know. You don't know? So Isaiah really wanted to see his friends.
Like. To see what new teacher. Like to see what like teacher I get.
Because. There's only one choice right now.
Okay. Okay.
Deep Dive
Cool. So what's your favorite subject in school?
Art. Art.
Art's fun. She loves to do art.
Okay. So.
Practical Steps
Let's talk about. Business.
What would you change. With Len City.
Currently. Make a million kilos on anti-Christies. Make a million kilos on anti-Christies.
Yeah. Yeah. So there'd be lots of people that worked here. Is there anything else that you would change besides cloning?
Key Takeaways
Yes. You don't know.
Okay. So.
Because one day. You're going to be the future owner of Len City with your brother. What would you do with it?
Would you still do mortgages? Or would you do something different?
Resources
I don't know. I'd keep it in mortgages.
You'd keep it in mortgages? Would you be the manager? Would you do what your sister does?
What would you do? My sister.
Or my sister. Auntie Chrissy.
Introduction
I don't know. I don't know. I think that I would be the person delivering all of your stuff.
Okay. And how often would there be deliveries?
Every day? Okay.
Like that. So.
The Core Idea
Aubrey. Yeah. One of the things that I've known that you've really liked to do is karate.
You're really good at karate. So why don't you tell us about that? Yesterday when I was at karate.
On Tuesday. He posted a picture of me like on their website.
Right. So he told me I was going to be famous.
Deep Dive
There you go. So.
You're on the website. One day. The very next day you're recording a radio show.
So I agree. I think you're going to be famous. What is it that you like most about karate?
The colors of the belts. What colors of the belts? You don't like what you learn.
Practical Steps
You don't like the. I like what I learn.
But. In our karate.
Like dad. There's this one thing downstairs. Where like I showed all of the belt levels.
And there's no red. Why?
Key Takeaways
I don't know. But there's no red.
Okay. Okay. At karate do you like the working out part of things? Or do you like learning the disciplines?
What do you like about it specifically? I like learning how to defend myself. And like I'm in a bad situation.
Like I know how to. I know how to give like they're grabbing.
Resources
If they're grabbing anything. Like they're grabbing if they're heavy.
And I like like. I learned.
Like that you put it. Like that you try to like slide your hand through.
And like. Like just grab their arm and yank it away.
Introduction
Nice. That's cool.
Or anything like that. That's cool. That's not even what we learned karate. But that's what I seen on Big Pop or something.
Yeah. No worries.
And she comes home. And she practices the moves on me. So I randomly get judo chopped and kicked. And it's also her brother that likes to practice those moves on me.
The Core Idea
But yeah. It's fun.
So besides karate. What other fun things did you do this summer?
We went to Niagara Falls. And we went in this very scary Dracula thing where there was live actors in it.
And Isaiah's. I can see your feet.
Deep Dive
I can see you. And the guy straight up is.
No you can't. That was funny.
I remember that. And he's.
Yes I can. And the guy's.
Practical Steps
Nope. You can't.
It's pretty funny. And it was like pitch black. My dad needed to get his phone flashlight.
No. No.
That was fun. And then we went through that tunnel.
Key Takeaways
With the lights on it. And it made you feel like you were dizzy.
Yeah. It made you feel like that you were about to go upside down.
Yeah. That was in Ripley's.
Yeah Ripley's. Believe it or not.
Resources
Yeah. That was fun. And what else did you do that was fun this summer?
We went to a cabin. And we went to the beach like the entire day on the Saturday. And we had lots of fun at the beach.
No. That's awesome.
Now. We don't have much time left.
Introduction
Would there be anything. So like for Isaiah for an example. He discovered how to ride his bike.
Without. Training wheels and the pedals.
And that was really cool. Was there something that you learned this summer.
That was really cool. Or just in general. Doesn't have to be the summer. That you could share with everybody.
The Core Idea
I learned how to like Harry Potter. You learned how to like Harry Potter.
I don't know. That is true. She was very scared of Harry Potter in the beginning. And then she started watching it.
Got over it pretty quickly. So there's nothing you could think of that you learned.
That was really cool. Honestly.
Deep Dive
I don't know. Actually. When we played the Harry Potter video game. I learned how to beat all of the year.
Like I learned how to beat like some of the years. That's true.
All by myself. That is true. She didn't know how to play. So I would say that was like her variance.
Because you sat there. You decided you wanted to learn how to do it. And now you know how to play the video game. Because it was very challenging for you before.
Practical Steps
Dad I have a question. Sure. Why are those things green whenever we talk?
Because it's your voice. Like it's showing which input is working for making the radio show.
Okay. Thanks for tuning in today. I look forward to chatting with you next time. Thank you so much for tuning into the show today.
If you found value. Please follow the show and rate it five stars. It would mean the world to me.
Key Takeaways
And lastly. All the resources that we spoke about are at the bottom of the show notes. Looking forward to seeing you in the next episode.
